Our Work
Starting from our establishment, our group has been able to successfully set milestone goals and achieve them. Please enjoy!

December 2021
Establishment of MFA
Isabelle grew up witnessing the impacts of Alzheimer's and the fear it brought, making her eager to improve the lives of patients. She knew many Alzheimer's institutions lacked adequate funding in South Korea. With this initiative and idea for Miles for Alzheimer's, she met Andrew, who had an interest for biology and medicine, who also wanted to do something to improve the realities faced by the elderly. Thus, they co-founded Miles for Alzheimer's. From then, we established Miles for Alzheimer's in 2022, with four head executives, Isabelle, Andrew, Clare, and Sean. From then, this executive team has been able to recruit members and make change.

Hope Sharing Marathon
As our first official event, MFA gathered around one hundred members who were willing to participate in the Hope Sharing Marathon. Participants consisted of not only MFA members, but also their family members, close friends, invited guests, and even those we attracted on social media. Hosted virtually in the app Charity Miles, the event required users to download the application in order to track the daily activities of the participants over the course of one month. Ultimately, the marathon successfully raised nearly $4045 plus alpha (from Charity Miles app), with just about 809 miles ran by the participants.

Established as a
Non-profit Organization
Isabelle's registration of MFA as a non-profit organization was accepted, thus making our club a government recognized non-profit organization. This process not only allowed MFA to become more legitimate, but in a more practical sense, it allowed us to create a Miles for Alzheimer's bank account and issue digital tax invoices for corporations, facilitating corporate donations!! Go MFA!

Donation Ceremony at
송은노인학교
MFA members celebrated raising a grand total of ₩3,500,000 to contribute to the seniors who reside at 송은 노인 학교 (Songeun Dementia Seniors Day Care Center). With Isabelle signing the documents to affirm the donation, the participants began an interactive activity period with the residents. This period consisted of a lively karaoke sing along with traditional Korean music, and a therapeutic art project in which the members respectfully guided the elders in constructing adorable clay figures. The ceremony closed with a celebratory group picture cementing MFA’s contribution to the cause of improving the lives of the elderly in Korea.

With funds raised through the Hope Sharing Marathon, MFA members contributed a grand total of ₩3,000,000 to contribute to 건강누리 의왕시립 노인요양원 (Carenuri Uiwang Municipal Aged Care Home). Due to the recent surge of COVID-19 cases, we had to conduct the ceremony in a hybrid manner. Isabelle and Andrew physically visited the center, but they shared the ceremony with other executives and members at home through Zoom. We started with a welcoming speech delivered by the director, and we learned about the different programs and purchasing of products that our donations would be aiding. Andrew delivered a speech as well our role as MFA members. It was really inspiring to see our efforts become realized in the form of tangible aid.

In total, ₩4,000,000 (approx. $3200, $1600 each) were donated to the two institutions.

Miles for Alzheimer's visited the 건강누리 의왕시립 노인요양원 (Carenuri Uiwang Municipal Aged Care Home) to celebrate our donation of ₩2,000,000. The donation ceremony started with a speech by Nathan, who introduced the MFA, including its mission and fundraisers. The director of the care home shared her appreciation for our donation and introduced us to the care home and its programs. We also learned how our donations were and will be used, and were able to see in person some of the products that were purchased from our donations in use. We agreed to continue working together in the future to fight Alzheimer's disease and support the elderly.
